Memorial Day is yet another day
to remember the brave American soldiers who sacrificed their lives
for the USA, their homeland and its citizens. The three-day weekend
is a solemn occasion to commemorate their bravery. |

Much more than a three-day weekend,
Memorial Day holiday is meant to reflect on the true meaning of the day,
to honor America's fallen heroes and be thankful to them for their
efforts and their profound patriotism. The somber tones of 'Taps' at
3.00 p.m., the National Moment of Remembrance, and the wreaths placed by
those who take time to remember the sacrifices adorn the graves of the
soldiers. The Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery is
perhaps the most visited memorial site in America.

Memorial Day is also the time to think about and give aids to the
families, widows and orphans of the war dead. The memorial sites are
strewn all over America and it is our duty to honor the memories of
these unknown and distinguished soldiers by decorating their graves with
flowers and lighting candles on them. 'Taps' is the standard music piece
recognized by the Army and played at military funerals since 1891.
Memorial Days seeks to stir the patriotic feelings of every American
citizen and remind them that they owe their freedom and liberty to the
finest of young men and women who laid down their lives for them.
